Learn the Internet, Manage It!
“Learn the Internet, Manage It! is a socio-educational project for commencing Internet users, which makes it possible to get basic knowledge about the device and network capabilities. Its main goal is to increase the level of digital literacy of young users in a modern interactive form and teach them practical skills of using IT services. The project was launched in 2012 by Rostelecom and the Coordination Center of the National Internet Domain.
The project includes an educational module, with information presented in a playable and accessible manner about the Internet structure, operation of the main IT services, safe use of the network and a training application for mobile devices, which through the use of a series of test questions, offers a means to improve the gained knowledge. Early in 2019 the project involved 141 thousand people, more than 110 thousand users from eight federal districts were registered on the portal.
Based on the project, IT marathons, online tournaments and quizzes are held, as well as the main event of the year - the All-Russia Online Cyber Literacy Championship. In 2018, 2.8 thousand of more than 11 thousand participants registered at the online championship, were lumped into 440 school teams. The participants solved tasks of different difficulty levels, compiled on the basis of the main IT trends of 2018 and future technologies: robotics, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, blockchain technology, virtual and augmented reality, telemedicine and cybersecurity.
In 2019, an online tournament will be held under the project for students of engineering classes in Moscow schools, as well as a Digital dictation and a quiz dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the .RU domain.
Rostelecom actively supports educational IT projects, since one of the Company's priority tasks is to attract the attention of schoolchildren and students to modern information technologies and provide the younger generation with new opportunities for progress in the IT field.
