Moscow, Russia – August 12, 2021 – Rostelecom PJSC (MOEX - RTS: RTKM, RTKMP; OTCQX: ROSYY), Russia’s national telecommunications operator, today announces that it has signed a RUB 13.5 billion, five-year contract with Russian Post to provide IT services. The scale of the agreement is unique for the Russian IT market as it will serve Russia’s largest corporate data network of 40,000 facilities, which includes post offices, infrastructure and data centres across the entire country.

Rostelecom’s collaboration with Russian Post will provide a consistent and reliable quality of service, across all channels, which will significantly increase the availability of Russian Post's online services.

Russian Post and Rostelecom have a strong track-record for cooperating. In 2016, the companies entered into a five-year agreement to create a unified corporate data transmission network. Through its cooperation with Rostelecom, the Post has centralized more than 900 regional telecom operator agreements into one. Rostelecom has since built around 3,000 new communication channels for branches located in remote settlements and for new Post facilities such as logistics centres.

As part of the new agreement, technical requirements have been significantly increased to help improve the quality of communication services, which will be standard depending on the type and location of each facility. Within five years, Rostelecom is expected to increase the data transfer rate in each single network by 2.5 times - from 200 Gbps to 500 Gbps (in total for all facilities). Within three years, Rostelecom will increase the number of postal facilities connected to the corporate data transmission network via fibre-optic by 10% - from 60% to 70% of the network. In addition, time provisioned for network interruption will be significantly reduced.

Vladimir Savkin, Deputy General Director for Information Technology and Digital Services at Russian Post:
“Our agreement with Rostelecom is unique, because it serves as a single contract for all postal facilities, which standardizes quality requirements for all communication services. Thanks to this, we will receive the same high quality of connection across our entire network - in branches; logistics centres and data centres, depending on their geographic location.”

Valery Ermakov the Senior Vice President for Corporate and Government Projects at Rostelecom:
“This project marks the continuation of an effective partnership between Russian Post and Rostelecom, one that is unprecedented in the market. Reliable modern communication services have become the foundation of our infrastructure, which ensures the continuity of key postal services. Today, a significant portion of these services have already gone digital. Thanks to a developed telecommunications infrastructure, our deep expertise in developing secure networks and our strong support services, Rostelecom is able to offer large-scale and unique solutions for its corporate customers across all of Russia.”

Other joint projects with Rostelecom include existing contracts for local intra-zone communication services and the provision of smart telephone numbers for Russian Post customer support services using the (KDU) 800 access code.
