Moscow, Russia – August 3, 2021 – Rostelecom PJSC (MOEX - RTS: RTKM, RTKMP; OTCQX: ROSYY), Russia’s national telecommunications operator, today announces that it has been ranked first by the number of data racks commissioned last year, according to CNews Analytics.

Rostelecom’s data center network, comprised of Rostelecom’s platforms, Rostelecom Data Centers and DataLine, currently has 31 data processing centers with a total of 13,170 racks. The data hall area is around 30,000 sqm, and the total available power capacity is 145.7 MW. In 2020, Rostelecom commissioned new platforms with the overall number of racks of 1,681 (800 racks in Saint-Petersburg and 600 racks in the new Moscow data center NORD-5).

Pavel Kaplunov, Vice President for Cloud Services:
“In 2021, we continued to expand our regional network, having commissioned a 300-rack data center in Novosibirsk in January, and are expecting to launch the second queue of the Udomlya mega data center for 800 racks in autumn. Our focus in Moscow remains on our flagship Tier IV project for 2,000 racks – Moscow-V, and another data center for 400 racks at the existing NORD platform”.

According to CNews Analytics, the data center market continues to grow. Its consolidation is further evidenced by a 12% growth of the 30 largest data center providers’ combined capacity to a total of 40,992 racks. Experts estimate that the largest operators will add over two times more racks to the overall market capacity than last year when the number of commissioned racks was 4,500 in total. The demand for commercial data centers remains high, mainly thanks to the growing digitisation of industries with low maturity of IT systems coupled with an exponential growth in data volumes and wider migration to cloud services.
