Moscow, Russia – October 23, 2019 – Rostelecom PJSC (MOEX: RTKM, RTKMP; OTCQX: ROSYY), the largest digital service provider in Russia, today announces that it has teamed up with Rusagro, Russia's largest vertically integrated agricultural holding company, to launch a control system to manage the harvesting of grains. The system facilitates a significant increase in productivity and efficiency throughout the entire harvesting cycle through to transportation to various sites.

The platform is built based on IoT technology which collects agronomic data from sensors and RFID cards which are mounted on to agricultural equipment. The smart farming tool covers the entire cycle from real-time monitoring of harvesting processes to transportation and transmission of the agronomic data on to Rusagro’s automated information system via mobile networks; it is also able to function without mobile signal. The control system will be rolled out across all Rusagro sites during 2019 and 2020 following a successful pilot application in the Belgorod region.

Pavel Dreiger, Rusagro CIO:
“We have chosen Rostelecom’s digital solutions because they meet all of our requirements for building a reliable infrastructure for harvest management. We have also implemented a number of technological solutions to enhance productivity in data verification and transmission with no mobile Internet access at all. We hope the scaling up of this system will lead to lower crop losses, higher resource savings and increased transparency.”

Roman Shulginov, Rostelecom’s VP for Industry Solutions:
“Agriculture is one of Rostelecom’s priority business streams and its rapid development is underpinned by skills and competences needed to support clients with smart and reliable infrastructure to increase their socioeconomic impact and mitigate sector related risks. Rostelecom’s widespread network of data centers, solid track record of successfully implemented integration and infrastructure projects, as well as our scalable industrial Internet solutions will make a significant contribution to our partnership with Rusagro, as well as have positive effect on the industry in general.”
