Moscow, Russia – September 1, 2011 – Rostelecom OJSC (MICEX & RTS: RTKM, RTKMP; OTCQX: ROSYY), Russia’s national telecommunications operator, today notes that the MSCI has included the Company’s ordinary shares in the Large Cap Segment of the MSCI Global Standard Indices and MSCI Russia Index with 3.43% weight, effective from September 1, 2011, to coincide with the effective date of the August 2011 Quarterly Index Review. Rostelecom’s preferred shares were not added to the MSCI Indices.
The inclusion of the Rostelecom ordinary shares to the MSCI Global Standard Indices followed the reorganisation of Rostelecom and the subsequent merger of the 17 lines of its ordinary shares, which increased the Company’s market capitalisation by more than 50%. Consequently, the MSCI Global Standard Indices conducted a review of Rostelecom’s market capitalisation, in accordance with the MSCI Global Investable Market Indices Methodology, and determined that Rostelecom met the size criteria required for inclusion in the Large Cap Segment of the MSCI Global Standard Indices.
