New Director of Rostelecom’s Moscow Branch (MMT) appointed

Following the company’s performance optimization strategy, a new director of the Moscow Branch of OJSC Rostelecom, “Long-distance & International Exchange Company” (MMT) Igor Alexeyevich Kalugin was appointed on 04 February 2003.

“This appointment marks an important milestone in the process of restructuring of MMT, Rostelecom’s Moscow Branch, and the whole company. The restructuring of MMT is aimed at building a strong customer-oriented business in Moscow. Deep specialized knowledge and vast experience of Mr. Kalugin gained in commercial entities, including Western companies, will facilitate the changes which will entail strengthening of the Branch’s position at the Moscow market.” — said Sergey Kuznetsov, General Director of OJSC Rostelecom. In 1989 he graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Fine Mechanics and Optics majoring in Automatic machinery and technical systems control. After graduation Igor Kalugin worked in commercial divisions of MFT where he started as engineer and was promoted to the Head of technical division.

After he took his second higher education at the Institute of Economics and Finance specializing in Economics, Mr. Kalugin was employed as Finance manager at the Baltic Bottling Plant J/V, and later, upon taking an additional training course at Business school in the UK, he spent several months working at the Headquarters of English China Clays PLC holding company in London.

On his returning to St. Petersburg he headed the Finance Division at Cadburry, where he worked until summer of 1997. After completing his studies at the London School of Economics majoring in Corporate finance this time, Igor Kalugin joined “Colibry” concern, which he left in May 1999 to take over the position of Finance director at CJSC PeterStar at the request of PeterStar’s shareholders.

Prior to his current appointment as MMT director Igor Kalugin had worked as General Director of CJSC Petersburg Transit Telecom for two years.
