I Want to Be!

Since 2012, Rostelecom has been actively participating in the charity program "I Want to Be!", organized by the AIF "Kind Heart" - Charity Foundation. The program has been implemented by the Foundation since 2007. Its goal is provision of targeted assistance to children with chronic renal insufficiency who have undergone surgery for transplantation of a donor kidney or are just preparing for it. The program also aims to develop children's creative and intellectual potential and interest in various professions.

In 2018, 412 charges of the Foundation took part in the program "I Want to Be!" The main participants were young patients of the Russian research center of surgery named after academician B. V. Petrovsky (RRCS). After a successful kidney transplantation in the RRCS the children took part in a photo session. And then they plunged into the world of different professions: forester, tamer, violinist, physical education teacher, carpenter, welder, banker, postman, beekeeper, judge, carpenter.

Children from 16 orphanages took part in 20 master classes: they made their own cartoon in the "AnimaKot" animation studio, traveled through virtual reality in the Innovation center "SKOLKOVO"; played football with robots in the IT-Start Resource center; got acquainted with the basics of computer and laser technology in the Polytechnic College named after N. N. Godovikov. In the cooking studio they cooked dishes according to the recipes of Julia Vysotskaya, learned how to grow a micro-village and create an in-house vertical mini-garden in the Technological school No.1540; worked on laser machines and participated in the competition for assembling computers against the clock in the Resource Center of Automation and Radio Electronics.

In 2017, the program "I Want to Be!" expanded its geography thanks to the drawing contest "My Future Profession". Schoolchildren from 17 regions sent more than 370 drawings to the competition. 245 pupils from 47 schools of the Russian Federation and 125 children from 6 orphanages took part in the tournament of young artists.

Children from the Children's Creativity Centre at the residential settlement Purpe of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District held a charity fair of children's drawings, the collected funds were sent to the fund to help a child with renal failure.

The program also hosts a charity evening for those cared by the AIF Kind Heart Charity Foundation, suffering from renal insufficiency. An exhibition of the photos of children who have gone through kidney transplantation surgery is organized at the party.

Charitable initiatives and projects in the social sphere are an important part of Rostelecom's corporate social responsibility. Besides provision of high-quality communication services to its customers the Company also actively contributes to creation of a stable social environment and a better quality of life in Russia.
